Marilyn Jeanine Scheck

Marilyn Jeanine Scheck, age 87, of Traverse City, passed away on January 26, 2021 completing her earthly journey. Those who knew Marilyn can safely say that after being born into the world on August 8, 1933 to the late Everett and Carmen (Ross) Carder, she could have easily fit into the life of a gypsy. Her sense of adventure and love for the open road was one of many things that encouraged a long lasting and loving relationship with her late husband Allen. They would pack the motorhome and spend months on the road exploring and when that seemed to be a bit monotonous, they would travel home, pack a new type of clothing and board the boat for adventures even into the North Channel. She was coined as a “tough bird”, and always made the most of each moment. One thing that was extremely important to Marilyn was a good education and being passionate about your career choice, of which she was. Marilyn had a long and successful career as a speech therapist. Visitation will take place Tuesday, Feb. 2, from 5-7 p.m. as well as Wednesday Feb. 3, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Marilyn’s final resting place will be with her husband at the Hastings Charter Township Cemetery with a graveside service on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021 at 1 p.m. Marilyn is survived and missed dearly by her children, Vern (Sue) Scheck, Susan (harry) Mendel, Bruce (Ann) Scheck and Todd (Deb) Scheck; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Marilyn and her family are being cared for by the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
