Della Lou Meade


Dancing Della Lou Meade, age 77, of Woodland, passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021 at her home with family by her side. Della was born in Chicago, IL on May 23, 1943, the daughter of the late Michael and Francis (Thompson) Dooley. She was raised in the Nashville area and attended local schools graduating from W.K. Kellogg High School in 1961. On June 10, 1961 she was married to Arthur Meade. Della and Art began their lives together in the Nashville area, before moving to Woodland in 1972. Della’s passion in life was dancing! She was an accomplished dancer in many disciplines, and she loved to share are skills with others. Over the years Della has been a dance instructor, with students in Lake Odessa, Ionia, Hastings and several other surrounding communities. Della, maintained a weekly lessons schedule until 2009. In 1970, Art and Della purchased the Ford dealership in Lake Odessa and successfully together operated the business. Each year, they participated in regional and national sales contests which they often won. This afforded the couple many opportunities to travel all over world, including Switzerland, France, the Caribbean and Italy. Della also enjoyed traveling with her family to many cattle shows around mid Michigan. Della’s family was always her first priority, and she especially enjoyed time spent with the grandchildren. She is survived by her beloved husband Art; two sons, Jim and Joe Meade; three grandchildren,China (Gabe) Shellenbarger, Alisha Meade, Spencer Meade; seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Pat, and Jack Dooley.
