Clara Dean Wormmeester
Clara Dean Wormmeester, age 91, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2020.
Clara was born on September 18, 1929 in Alpine, TN, the daughter of William and Bitha (Todd) Tudor. Clara was a wonderful cook and it showed with her over 30 years of dedicated service working for Speed Eddinger at the Someplace Else restaurant in Battle Creek. She was known for creating the Saturday night special, her famous Clara’s steak soup.
Clara loved living at Fine Lake for over 30 years, spending time outdoors, hunting, and fishing. She enjoyed traveling, games of chance (Keno), singing and dancing, Christmas, and the occasional Bud Light with a glass of ice.
Clara is survived by children: Kathleen Smith and Billy P. (Robinette) Smith; grandchildren, Shelly (Donnie) Hueckel and Heather (Nick) Harvey; several great grandchildren; brother, Roy Tudor; niece, Vicki Bolton; nephew, Randall Tudor; and many other nieces and nephews.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jason “Jake” Wormmeester; sons: Dale and Ron Wormmeester; siblings: Lonnie, Dora, Aline, Effer Lee, Christine, Jessie, and Anna.
A service for Clara will be held in the summer of 2021 and a time will be announced at a later date. Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery next to her husband, Jake.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to American Legion Post 484 will be appreciated.
