Robert L. Elkins Sr.

Robert L. “Cob” Elkins Sr., age 79, of Orangeville, passed away on December 10, 2020 at Ascension Borgess Hospital. Robert was born on December 26, 1940 in Thacker, WV, the son of Russell and Bertha (Anderson) Elkins. Cob worked as a logger for over 60 years. Most important to Cob was his wife, children, and grandchildren. Cob was a man of God and he was a longtime member of the Pentecostal Church of Christ. He enjoyed cleaning his kitchen and cooking holiday meals with his wife. Cob could be found combing his hair, enjoying a Werther’s candy, mowing his lawn, tending to his flower garden, and always having the right tools for his grandson. In his free time, he enjoyed driving his tractor, playing cards and board games, collecting coins, and feeding his dog, Olive.
Cob will be remembered for always having time for a cup of coffee and visiting with friends and family. He truly loved everyone and everyone loved him. Cob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jane (Risner) Elkins; children, Cheryl Ann Elkins, Bobby (Rebecca) Elkins Jr., Venus (Jacob) Pettey, Sherri Elkins, Roy (Jessica) Elkins, Susan (Tony) Christopher, and Darby (Clifford) Robinson; grandchildren: Katlin Janay Elkins, McKinnon Thomas (Becky) Elkins, Robert (Brook) Elkins III, Freddie Jo Elkins, Mari Jane Elkins, Janie Louise Pettey, and Vivana Cobbie Rose Pettey; great grandchildren, Grant Roderick Roberts, Robert Elkins IV, Hazel Kay Elkins, Eleanor Elkins, Emma Elkins, and Harley Elkins; siblings, Charles Douglas Elkins, Jackie (Ed) Blankenship, Jerry (Barb) Elkins, Jim (Loretta) Elkins, David “Pete” (Rose) Elkins, Danny (Norma) Elkins, Rick (Kathy) Elkins, Jonny (Colleen) Elkins; sisters-in-law, Janet Elkins and Sandi Elkins; and many nieces and nephews.
