James Merle Carey
James Merle Carey, age 82, of Bedford, passed away quietly at his home Oct. 24, 2020. Jim was born Aug. 13, 1938, to John and Katie (Farnsworth) Carey.
He is survived by his fiancée, Bev Converse; his children, Belinda (Patrick) Hammond, of Liberty, Mo., and Russell (Julie) Carey, of Bluffton, S.C.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; and son John Carey (2015).
Jim owned and operated the Tekonsha Feed and Grainery and later a diesel wrecker service. Jim was a truck driver, farmer and diesel mechanic. He also worked at Hacketts of Battle Creek.
Jim enjoyed hunting, dancing, playing cards and socializing with family and friends. He also was a member of the Moose for 49 years, and also was a member of the Grange.
He is also survived by a special nephew, Jay Smith, of Pittsford, Mich.
He was so loved by Bev’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial and celebration of life will be held at Pleasantview Family Church, 2601 Lacey Road, Dowling on November 21, 2020 at 1 p.m.
