Thelma Doris Fassett
Thelma Doris Fassett, age 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on October 14, 2020 at Pennock Spectrum Hospital in Hastings. On August 24, 1957, Thelma married Clair Fassett her loving husband for 63 years.
Thelma was born on April 23, 1938, in Nashville, the daughter of Clayton and Bessie Decker. She was church secretary for First Baptist Church of Hastings for many years.
She was a faithful member of Nashville Baptist Church. For many years she was a member at First Baptist Church in Hastings where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and sang special music.
Thelma loved music. She learned to play hammer dulcimer and formed a group known as “Dulcimer Friends”. The group played for many audiences, but she loved the joy the music brought to the nursing home patients when they played old hymns or familiar songs. She served, gave of her time and prayed faithfully for others. She was a serving, giving, and attentive wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and she will be missed by all.
She is survived by her husband Clair; children, Carolyn Fassett, Douglas and Brenda Fassett, Luella (Fassett) and Britt Dennison, and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Hubert Decker, and sister, Dorthy (Decker) Swift.
There was a private funeral service Monday, Octo. 19, 2020. Interment took place at Barryville Cemetery in Castleton Township.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry, PO Box 908 Bellmawr, NJ 08099.
