Doris Elaine Campbell


Doris Elaine Campbell, age 94, of Middleville, left to be with her heavenly father on Friday, Sept. 25, 2020. Doris was born on November 26, 1925 in Grand Rapids to Glen and Hazel (Harrison) Wilson. Doris was a lifelong resident of Middleville and was a 1943 graduate of Thornapple-Kellogg. After graduation, Doris married the love of her life Emmette E. Campbell on October 9, 1943. Together they shared 64 wonderful years before his passing on November 22, 2007. Doris was a bus driver for Thornapple-Kellogg Schools for over 16 years, retiring in 1984. She was an avid golfer, winning many golf awards, and enjoyed bowling and paying bingo with her friends as well. Doris was a longtime member of Whitneyville Bible Church, where she loved attending young at heart church functions. Doris is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Hooper; two sons, Michael (Betsy Morgan) Campbell, Jack (Christine) Campbell; grandchildren, Julie (Dave) Bott, Laurie Vandenberg, Deborah (Tom) Betz, Ron (Rose) Hooper, Kimberly (Joe) Misak, Traci (Charlie) Hackney; 14 great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; sister, Mary Zimmerman; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. Doris will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Ronald Hooper; siblings, Evelyn Mitchell, Blanche Stoneburner, and Harrison Wilson. Doris’s family received friends on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020 at Beeler-Gores Funeral Home in Middleville where her services were conducted on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020. Pastor Jonathan DeCou officiated. Doris will be laid to rest next to her husband in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
